Solving Multistage Mixed Nonlinear Convex Stochastic Problems

چکیده

We present an algorithm to solve multistage stochastic convex problems, whose objective function and constraints are nonlinear. It is based on the twin-node-family concept involved in the Branch-and-Fix Coordination method. These problems have 0–1 mixed-integer and continuous variables in all the stages. The non-anticipativity constraints are satisfied bymeans of the twin-nodefamily strategy. In this work to solve each nonlinear convex subproblem at each node we propose the solution of sequences of quadratic subproblems. Due to the convexity of the constraints we can approximate them by means of outer approximations. These methods have been implemented in C++ with the help of CPLEX 12.1, which only solves the quadratic approximations. The test problems have been randomly generated by using a C++ code developed by this author. Numerical experiments have been performed and its efficiency has been compared with that of a well-known code.

Computational strategies for non-convex multistage MINLP models with decision-dependent uncertainty and gradual uncertainty resolution

In many planning problems under uncertainty the uncertainties are decision-dependent and resolve gradually depending on the decisions made. In this paper, we address a generic non-convex MINLP model for such planning problems where the uncertain parameters are assumed to follow discrete distributions and the decisions are made on a discrete time horizon. In order to account for the decision-dep...

Convergence Analysis of Sampling-Based Decomposition Methods for Risk-Averse Multistage Stochastic Convex Programs

We consider a class of sampling-based decomposition methods to solve risk-averse multistage stochastic convex programs. We prove a formula for the computation of the cuts necessary to build the outer linearizations of the recourse functions. This formula can be used to obtain an efficient implementation of Stochastic Dual Dynamic Programming applied to convex nonlinear problems. We prove the al...

Convexity, Lipschitz Property and Diierentiability in Two{stage Stochastic Nonlinear Programming Problems

In the paper, two{stage stochastic nonlinear programming problems are investigated. In particular, the optimization problems with two types of decision are investigated. They are the solution of the basic (outer) problem depending on the underlying random element only through the corresponding probability law (more precisely through the corresponding mathematical expectation) and the solution o...

A general decomposition framework for large convex optimization problems based on augmented Lagrangians is described. The approach is then applied to multistage stochastic programming problems in two di erent ways: by decomposing the problem into scenarios and by decomposing it into nodes corresponding to stages. Theoretical convergence properties of the two approaches are derived and a computa...

Regularized Decomposition Methods for Deterministic and Stochastic Convex Optimization and Application to Portfolio Selection with Direct Transaction and Market Impact Costs

We define a regularized variant of the Dual Dynamic Programming algorithm called REDDP (REgularized Dual Dynamic Programming) to solve nonlinear dynamic programming equations. We extend the algorithm to solve nonlinear stochastic dynamic programming equations. The corresponding algorithm, called SDDP-REG, can be seen as an extension of a regularization of the Stochastic Dual Dynamic Programming...
